Liferaft Servicing
Northland Sea Safety is a Maritime New Zealand approved liferaft testing and service station. Our workshop is approved for the world’s top selling rafts: Plastimo, XMs and RFD Pacifics.
We are ably supported by RFD NZ so we can assure you of the best prices, availability and the latest technical back up and knowledge. Rafts can be packed to any category to comply with worldwide agencies like Australian Yachting, SOLAS B and ISAF.
Because we are a small company we can offer personal service and we would like you to inspect your raft whilst it is with us.
If your raft is not one of the brands we are approved to service we can organise the service at the appropriate service centre.
For commercial operators we offer a rapid turnaround and can supply a loan raft so you can continue operating safely while we service your raft.
Liferaft Hire
Liferafts require regular servicing and can be an expensive purchase if only required occasionally. If you need one only once or twice a year for racing, extended cruising or a yacht delivery then hiring one may save you money and regular servicing hassles.
Yachting New Zealand category 1 and cat 3 life rafts are available for hire on a weekly or monthly basis. These can be picked up from our workshop or sent to you anywhere in New Zealand.
Overseas Buy Back
If you are lucky enough to be leaving for an extended cruise you will need a Category 1 liferaft. We have a buy back option available for you – you pay us the full cost of the life raft and we guarantee that we will buy the raft back from you for the same price (less hire charges) when you return. This means the raft can be added to your boat insurance and we do not have to include high insurance premiums in our fee. Of course, if you decide not to return, the raft is yours to keep!
Commercial deliveries
There are a number of special requirements and procedures if the raft is to be used for a commercial international yacht delivery. We are happy to discuss these with you.
Life Jackets
We also service life jackets with the same care and attention to their purpose as we give to life rafts. Life jackets are often neglected although they are a major contributor to survival at sea. Life jackets require servicing and certifying for many controlling bodies.
